I had walked past Hillstone on a few occasions, and I eventually decided that I needed to try the place out. Thus, I went here on a double-date, and the place was pretty damn good.
First of all, the decor and atmosphere was exquisite. Like any New York City eatery worth a lick, it was low-lit and had a very sleek layout and choice of furniture. Definitely the kind of place you want to spend a lot of time in.
Second, while the menu was quite limited, (maybe 8-14 real choices…max), the food was pretty damn good. I complained about having chosen the filet mignon, because I knew the burger that had been ordered by my friend was going to make me wish I had went with her dish. Talk about first world problems. Nevertheless, I survived the filet mignon.
Lastly, I had quite a few drinks while I was there. Nothing special…just my usual choice of Bullet and Ginger. However, Hillstone made each of my B&Gs very well. For a highball drink, you’d expect it to be an easy thing to do, but that’s not always the case. So props to the bartender that evening for keeping my B&G on point throughout the night. And props to Hillstone…I will definitely be back to try out that burger!
