PS 450: the king of brunch places on Park Avenue. Unfortunatley, I wasn’t going there for brunch. But fortunately, I still managed to have a very good time.
Let me begin by saying that I went here very late at night, with two people who swore up and down that at brunch, this was the place to be and that they had heard good things about its nightlife. I wholeheartedly questioned the very existence of nightlife on Park Avenue–or at least, nightlife on Park Avenue that I was interested in–but I went with the flow anyway.
And I was impressed. It was a relatively smallish spot with not much in the way of space for us to go all kinds of crazy in, but because it wasn’t too packed, there was more than enough space for me to do what it is I do on the dance floor.
With that said, I don’t have too much to write about here. The music was good, so I definitely don’t mind bringing friends through here the next time I’m in the area late at night. The service at the bar was more than acceptable. And the crowd was both pleasant and sexy at the same time–an accomplishment most New York City’s clubs fail to achieve.
So my recommendation is that if you are ever in the vicinity of 30th and Park Avenue, and you find yourself without anything to do, this is a good alternative. You aren’t going to get Kevin Hart turnt-up at PS 450, but you will have a good time, listen to some good music, and perhaps–just perhaps–meet a little something-something on the side while you’re hitting up the dance floor.
